DOES GOD PUNISH MISTREATERS
Romans 12:19 (NIV84) Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
A. God forbids us to take vengeance on those who mistreat us
B. Our only job is to leave room for God’s wrath
C. God knows when others mistreat us and already has a strategy in place to bring justice to the situation
D. God promised to replay those who mistreat His children
E. Avenging your mistreatment does not bring closure – it brings judgment and obligates God to repay you
F. We will be judged for every act of retaliation because it closes the door on God’s involvement
G. If we punish our mistreaters, we might do it from a heart of bitterness
H. Anytime we avenge ourselves, we put ourselves on God’s Throne
I. God’s judgment not only punishes, but it brings people to a place of repentance
