FORGIVING YOUR WRONGDOERS
Matthew 18:21–22 (NIV84) Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
A. Forgiveness is not an optional characteristic for Believers
B. We don’t forgive because others deserve it, we forgive because they don’t deserve it
C. Forgiveness is our expression of God’s love towards those who act ungodly towards us
D. Jesus set a limit on the number of times you are required to forgive at 490 per day
E. Forgiveness is not for the other person to get away with their crime; it is to keep you from committing a worse crime – “unforgiveness”
F. Jesus preached forgiveness because it brings the nature of God to the front of our impulses and emotions
G. Without forgiveness, it is impossible to be like God because it His initial step in redeeming humanity from sin
H. Its only hard to forgive if you allow your heart to be callous to the voice of the Holy Spirit
